Character's History:

Tomoro was born in a world several decades after the planet was devastated by a vast natural disaster, where humans seek their ideal self guided by AI devices known as sapotamas, which are powered by emotional energy known as E-Pulse. Tomoro's E-Pulse was irregular, which caused sapotamas and related tech to glitch, causing him to be seen as strange and be stigmatized. As a result, Tomoro decided not to trust sapotamas or AI.

Tomoro's parents were arrested when he was a preteen for reasons that are as of yet unknown, forcing his brother to drop out of school and quit his band to take care of him. The two had to leave their home to take up residence in the flooded, poorer bay area distict of Shin Hikarigahama.

One night, Tomoro's schoolmate, Hitomi, was attacked by monsters called Digimon because they smelled the scent of his E-Pulse on her Sapotama, which he accidentally touched earlier in the day. Hitomi was afflicted by a condition known as "Cold Heart". Later, Tomoro's E-Pulse created a Digimon of his own called Gekkomon from his own sapotama, who promised to lead him to Hitomi, only for the Digimon responsible for attacking her to corner him. Tomoro's brother Asuka tried to save him, but was afflicted with Cold Heart himself. The Digimon responsible was then suddenly deleted by a mysterious Digimon, delaying any chance of restoring Asuka for the time being.

Tomoro was taken in by a group of "Cleaners" called Glowing Dawn, who worked to deal with Digimon related incidents for bounties while promising to help Tomoro restore his brother. Tomoro struggled to accept them and Gekkomon, but in time was able to cooperate with him to defeat the Digimon that froze Hitomi and save her. He eventually accepted his new role as a Cleaner, and cooperated with Glowing Dawn.

Tomoro's frustrations with Gekkomon eventually reached a boiling point where Tomoro drove Gekkomon into a berserk state, where the crazed and out of control Digimon attacked him. The result was their defeat by a member of a top Cleaner group, Kaito Kutsuna, and Gekkomon being reduced to his lesser evolved state, Kekomon. Tomoro fell into a depression over what he nearly caused to happen, but was roused to help defend Glowing Dawn's headquarters when it was attacked by a MarineBullmon, a Perfect-Level Digimon. Tomoro realized that his difficulties with Gekkomon were inherent to his frustrations with himself, and that by accepting Gekkomon, he should also accept himself. This allowed him to evolve Gekkomon to his Adult stage, ArmaLizamon, and defeat MarineBullmon, saving their home and comrades.

Questions:

1. Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them. How would your character act once someone got to know them?

Tomoro is a troubled kid, and this would be evident from first meeting them. They are very preoccupied with the struggles they've had in life, and as a result, are very distrustful of others, even if they have good intentions towards him. He's been hurt a lot by life, and is so used to people close to him leaving him or being taken away that he almost expects it, and feels that there's something that's either broken or different about him that causes these things to happen. Once someone got to know him, they'd find he cares about others more than he lets on, and that once they've earned his trust and loyalty, he's willing to put energy into helping them. That said, he doesn't care for it when people make sacrifices out of themselves, thinking they're just trying to "look cool" without caring about the people they're leaving behind.

2. What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?

Tomoro's most interesting and unique feature, besides their irregular E-Pulse, is their love of music and eagerness to march to the beat of his own drum. He took his brother's lesson to "listen to his own beat" to heart, and rather than chase perfection like many others in his society, he instead pushes himself to be true to himself and his own "beat". He is a pretty decent drummer and loves music, though he has yet to match the skill of his older brother Asuka due to his lack of faith in himself and his own convictions. He's also an outside the box thinker, as shown by his tendency to deviate from lesson plans in school when he was younger (which actually caused difficulty for him, but nonetheless), and some of the strategies he and Gekkomon have used in battle to make up for their lack of ability to evolve in some earlier episodes.

3. What does your character think their flaws are? What do they think their strengths are? What are their actual flaws and strengths?

Tomoro is actually very aware of his own flaws, and as a result, what they perceive to be their flaws and what their actual flaws are very much in alignment. He can be a glutton, he can be rude, and he can be overly direct and selfish, which are all traits shown by Gekkomon, his Digimon partner, who reflects his true self. At the same time, they both hate bullies and those who try to force their view of perfection and their own desires on others, and will stand up for the little guy even if they aren't necessarily "angels" themselves. He also knows he can be vengeful, though he's shown shame for such emotions afterward, showing he can learn from such experiences. Finally, Tomoro's many hardships have made him resilient and capable of rising up from both his own depression and the worst of defeats, and if that is not a strength, I don't know what is.

4. What is a common misconception other characters have about your character?

Many people have the assumption that due to Tomoro's concern for saving his brother, he doesn't have any concern for others or any issues beyond that. The truth is, Tomoro is not as apathetic as he appears, he just has trouble showing he cares due to his standoffishness and distrust of others. His past has made it difficult for him to put his faith in anyone besides Asuka, and ultimately, even Asuka kept secrets from him too. He expects the world to betray him, and as a result, he both has a hard time trusting and a hard time getting invested in the problems and issues of other people. However, once he gets to know someone, he will become as ride or die for them as he is for his brother.

Character Abilities: Tomoro possesses a chip in his hand that generates energy known as E-Pulse, which can power electronic devices with a single touch. His is highly irregular, in that it is both extremely powerful and causes devices to malfunction.

Furthermore, because he may regain Gekkomon, I will list his abilities here. Gekkomon is a Reptile Digimon inspired by a gecko, and thus, has all the abilities a gecko would, including the ability to climb walls. He also has an extensible prehensile tongue, which is extremely strong and able to pick up even large, heavy Digimon and throw them around. His attacks are "Smash Beat", in which he rapidly strikes his opponent with his tongue, "Swingle Tackle", where he uses his tongue to gather centrifugal force to hit the opponent hard, and "Break Throw", wherein he wraps his tongue around an object and throws it. He is also shown using a spinning attack which has no name.

By feeding on Tomoro's E-Pulse, Gekkomon can become stronger and faster. He can also use it to evolve into a Digimon known as ArmaLizamon, which is based on an Armadillo Lizard, or Ouroboros. ArmaLizamon is heavily armored, and can roll into a ball and deliver a hard hitting tackle known as "Death Roll Press", fire one concentrated beam from its mouth called "Neutron Laser", or many smaller ones called "Neutron Diffuser", and finally, generate laser blades from his arms called "Neutron Blade" (or "Double Neutron Blade" if he tries to "double weld", as he calls it).
